Heifer Raises more than $1 million in online auction Heifer International, a nonprofit specializing in animal agriculture and sustainable development, announced this week that it raised more than $1 million from an online auction of heifers and other livestock. The organization partnered with the online marketplace Mobly to auction off 20 pregnant cows, 1,000 chicks, and other small livestock over the course of 10 days. Goods were shipped to buyers in countries including Brazil, Mexico, and Uruguay. "This is a huge accomplishment for Heifer International and for the families who will benefit from these animals," said CEO Pierre Ferrari in a statement.
